That humble abode in the background is the Solitude Schloss near Stuttgart. For some reason Porsche uses the premises quite often for photo sessions.

Back in the day there used to be a rather famous racetrack south of the palace, the venue for the Solituderennen (“Solitude races”). There was even F1 racing there.

Actually Karl-Heinz “Kali” Feustel was the one who undertook the conversion. I don’t have quite clear what was Auto Becker’s involvement in the whole operation, but certainly they did not do it.

The car appeared in an Ian Kuah’s feature for Sports Car International. I remember Kuah mentioning that the gas struts for the boxes containing the roof and windscreens were 944 items.

Feustel and his company (raceline, lower case throughout) do or used to do quite amazing restoration work with Porsche cars.
